 ACS Disaster Response
 Ohio Adventist Community Services Disaster Response Training Weekend October 7-9, 2011 Download the schedule, registration form, and lodging information here. In recent years, ACS DR volunteers in Ohio have collected and distributed thousands of pounds of donated items following tornados and flooding in Athens, Lawrence, Richland and Wood Counties. Are you or your church ready to help if disaster should strike your community? ACS DR training is scheduled for October 7-9 at the First Seventh-day Adventist Community Church, 7480 Mayfield Rd in Chesterland, Ohio (Cleveland area). The weekend schedule begins Friday evening at 7 p.m. with Introduction to Disaster Preparedness, a general overview meant to prepare you to survive a disaster. This class is intended for everyone, not just those wishing to serve in Adventist Community Services Disaster Response (ACS DR). It is important to prepare to survive a disaster before the evacuation order is given. The Sabbath program, beginning at 10 a.m., includes Disaster Operations I & II for those specifically interested in ACS DR operations.This course is designed to provide the volunteer with a basic understanding of the work of ACS DR. It will familiarize you with the operations of a community collection center, a multi-agency warehouse, and emergency distribution operations including collecting, sorting, storing, transporting, inventory management, and distribution. Sunday morning be ready to practice what you've learned in Disaster Operations III & Drill. Following successful completion of this course, all volunteers are eligible to volunteer in any ACS DR donation management operation, under the direction of ACS DR leadership who coordinate staffing at each site.
