Volunteers Needed for Tornado Recovery Center in ToledoIn early June a category 4 tornado tore through Wood County, near Toledo, destroying lives and property. Much of the debris removal is complete and now families are starting to rebuild their lives. But how do you replace your belongings, especially if you don't have
insurance?Adventist Community Service Disaster Reponse opened the Tornado Recovery Center in the old Value City building in the Great Eastern Plaza in Northwood, near the disaster area. Local churches and individuals have donated household goods and caseworkers are evaluating family needs. "But we need volunteers to keep the Center running smoothly. We need to receive and inventory donated items and then help families who will receive the items," says Bill Rudolph, NW Ohio DR Coordinator who will oversee the Center operations. The Wood County Tornado Recovery Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, beginning July 13 and continuing for four weeks. If your church or group can help for a day or a few hours, contact the Center during operating hours at 419.724.4994 or contact Pastor Roy Nelson 740.381.7703 or by email ohacsdr@comcast.net See local TV coverage of the Center on WTOL, Channel 11.
