 On Your Church How can your congregation know if it is being faithful to the "prime directive" of living as the Body of Christ in your community? How can you assess progress? The following are some "Dashboard Indicators" that may be useful: 1. Is the message that we are to be God's agents to bless our world heard consistently in our church? Are our young people and children also being challenged with this message? 2. Is our church effectively equipping people to actively be the presence of Christ in their spheres of influence in winsome ways? 3. Do people increasingly contact us because we are a spiritual reference point throughout our community? Is our spiritual influence in our community growing? Are people attracted to our experience of God, Scripture, worship, fellowship, and prophetic mission? Are people joining us in advancing the "everlasting gospel" of Jesus Christ? 4. Are we becoming known for our interest and efforts to make life better, spiritually and physically, for people in our community? Are we expanding the number of "bridges" we are building to our community for service and ministry? Is our church hearing more fresh stories of people in our community whose lives are being transformed by the power of God through our relationships with them? 5. Are we united around a clear and compelling direction for our congregation's mission and ministry at this time and place? Have we discerned what it is that God is calling us to be and become, as a congregation? 6. Is our community becoming a better place, spiritually and in other ways, because of our presence and ministry? Is our church becoming more and more indispensable to our community? If we ceased to exist, will it be noticed as a loss to our community and world? |
