Place of Birth: Sri Lanka, a demoractic-socialist republic, an island off the Indian ocean with current population of 20 million: 70% Buddhist, 8% Muslim, 7% Hindu, and 6% Christian;
Childhood: Grew up in Sri Lanka in a Seventh-day Adventist Christian home.
Spiritual Formation: Influence of family and church during early childhood; a "grace awakening" while attending college; a life-long journey of growing in grace and knowledge.
Educational Development: Early education in Sri Lanka. Completed two undergraduate degrees in India -- in Religious Philosophy and Theology. A Masters degree in theology from the Seventh-day Adventist Andrews University, in Michigan, and a Doctoral degree from the United Theological Seminary, in Dayton, Ohio.
Professional Experience: Parish Pastor/evangelist in Sri Lanka; parish pastor in five churches in Ohio; Young Adult & Family Life Director, Ohio Conference; Executive Secretary, Ohio Conference; President, Ohio Conference since 1998.
Family: Wife, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, grandson.
Interests: Reading (primarily in the areas of Christian apologetics; faith & culture; contemporary missions, globalization, social & humanitarian issues); gardening (especially tropical plants and herbs); travel (especially international).
